Zelenskyy: Russia ignored our ceasefire proposal

Russia had not stopped its attacks despite Ukraine declaring
a unilateral ceasefire
on midnight May 6, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening
address the same day.
Zelenskyy added that if the attacks continue in the next two days, Ukraine could “act in kind” and reject Moscow’s May 8–9 ceasefire proposal.
The president thanked foreign leaders who supported Ukraine and its ceasefire proposal. He said Russia answered the offer with new strikes and attacks, including in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, and Chernihiv oblasts, and in the cities of Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson.
“None of Russia’s military activity has stopped; unfortunately, it hasn’t,” said Zelenskyy.
“Ukraine will act in kind. Depending on the situation overnight and tomorrow, we will determine our fully justified responses.”
Zelenskyy said Russia had received a clear proposal for a ceasefire and knows how to contact Ukraine or its partners to agree on details.
“If the one person in Moscow who cannot live without war cares only about one parade and nothing else, that is another matter,” he added.
“Ukraine is ready to work for peace. Ukraine seeks to end
this war with dignity. Russia has fought on to the point that even their main
parade now depends on us. And that is a clear signal: it must end.”
