Ihnat "never said this anywhere or to anyone" regarding the aggressor state launching such a number of drones in a single night, said the Air Force.
"We urge the media once again to verify sources and not to use official representatives of the Air Force for hype," the statement reads.
During a broadcast on the United News telethon on June 7, Ihnat reported that Russia is increasing its production of drones.
"There is no need to scare the population," he responded to a question from the host about the possibility of attacks involving 1,000 drones in one night.
“Of course, we need to prepare for an increase [in the number of UAVs used by Russia to attack Ukraine], because such a trend exists... A trend towards increased production [of drones] is observed.”
Statistics on the use of Russian UAVs are increasing, particularly due to the use of decoy drones. During recent large-scale attacks, the enemy used nearly 500 drones in one night.
He emphasized that Ukraine must do everything to counter enemy UAVs, including using electronic warfare systems, short-range air defense systems, and drone-based air defense.
On June 6, Russian forces carried out a new combined attack on Ukraine, launching 452 targets, including six ballistic and 36 cruise missiles, as well as 407 UAVs. Air defenses neutralized 199 drones, four ballistic, and 32 cruise missiles.
Overnight into June 7, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 215 targets, including 206 UAVs. Air defenses neutralized 167 drones and shot down seven missiles.
