12 killed in massive Russian attack, including 3 children — Klymenko

Among the dead are three children from one family in Zhytomyr Oblast. Their parents are hospitalized, with the mother in serious condition.

The minister emphasized that 13 oblasts were struck by the Russian attack: Kyiv city, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Sumy, and Poltava oblasts.

More than 80 residential buildings were damaged, and 27 fires were reported, with firefighters still working to extinguish flames at three locations.

“I remain in constant contact with oblasts, coordinating the work of our units. Rescuers from the State Emergency Service and police have been on site since the first minutes — clearing rubble, evacuating people, documenting Russian war crimes, and assisting victims. I am grateful for their efforts. This was a coordinated, ruthless strike targeting civilians. The enemy’s goal is fear and death,” the minister wrote.

On the night of May 25 (starting 8:40 p.m. on May 24), Russian forces launched a massive combined attack on Ukraine using 367 air attack vehicles, including:

• Nine Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles (from Kursk Oblast);

• 55 Kh-101 and Kalibr cruise missiles launched from Tu-95 and Tu-160 strategic bombers (from Saratov Oblast and the Black Sea);

• One Kh-22 cruise missile from a Tu-22M3 bomber (over the Black Sea);

• Four Kh-59/69 guided missiles from tactical aircraft (launched from the north);

• 298 Shahed strike UAVs and simulation drones launched from various locations in Russia (Bryansk, Millerovo, Kursk, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk) — the largest drone attack since February 2022. The previous record was 273 drones on May 18.

At least four people were killed and 16 injured in Kyiv Oblast, including three children. Damage was recorded in Brovarsky, Bila Tserkva, Buchansky, and Obukhivsky districts. Emergency, investigative, and medical teams are actively responding on the ground.

In Khmelnytskyi Oblast, four people were killed and five injured. One person also died in Mykolaiv.

In Zhytomyr Oblast, three children aged 8, 12, and 17 lost their lives.
