Germany announces more than $2.3 billion in new aid for Ukraine

“We will continue and expand our support for Ukraine,” Pistorius said.

“Under new contracts, Germany will provide more than EUR2 billion in additional assistance.”

According to the minister, the package will include interceptors for Patriot air defense systems, advanced radars, precision-guided artillery munitions, and other ammunition.

In addition, Berlin plans to send two more IRIS-T air-defense systems with a large compliment of missiles, man-portable air-defense systems, anti-tank weapons, secure communications equipment, and small arms.

Pistorius added that Germany will not only supply new hardware but also launch a modernization project for previously delivered systems to extend their service life and adapt them to wartime conditions.

The Ukraine Defense Contact Group (also known as the Ramstein format) brings together defense partners to coordinate support for Ukraine. The Oct. 15 meeting at NATO headquarters in Brussels was the 31st; the United Kingdom and Germany co-chaired the event.
