In June 2025 alone, Russia launched 2,736 Iranian-designed Shahed drones at Ukrainian cities, out of 28,743 used since 2022 in total, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on June 24.

Zelenskyy made the remarks while addressing to the Dutch parliament.

“Russia would never have been able to do this without its ties to the Iranian regime,” the president said.

“And we in Ukraine could never have stopped most of these drones without your solidarity and the support of our partners. This fact speaks for itself.”

He then reiterated his call on the international community to find ways to hold Moscow accountable and force it to obey international law.

On June 21, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) said Russia currently produces up to 170 Shahed UAVs. By the end of the year, the production rate could rise to 190 per day.

On June 7, Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat confirmed that the Russian military continues to increase the scale of its drone attacks, on track to eventually be able to launch 1,000 Shaheds in a single wave.
