The Russian military launched a massive kamikaze drone attack on Ukraine overnight on Sept. 29-30.

Ukraine’s air defense forces intercepted 30 Iranian-made drones over three regions:

  • 20 in Vinnytsia Oblast
  • 6 in Odesa Oblast
  • 4 in Mykolayiv Oblast

The attack was "quite powerful" as Russians again launched suicide drones at southern Odesa Oblast, using "complex routing," said Natalia Humeniuk, a spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces.

"In particular, by maneuvering, [the drones] tried to bypass the air defense systems in order to enter not only the southern but also the central regions of Ukraine," she said.

The targets of the aggressor remain the Danube and port infrastructure, whose damage could affect the region's economy, she said.

At night, several regions of Ukraine were under air raid alert due to Russia's launch of groups of attack drones. In Vinnytsia Oblast, an infrastructure facility was hit. In one of the villages near the town of Kalynivka, an evacuation was considered.
