He added that civilian property destruction is the most common type of crime that the Russians have committed. Between October 2022 and February 2023, 77% of enemy strikes targeted critical infrastructure facilities.
“Obviously this is a deliberate tactic of the enemy,” Kostin’s message reads.
“The environment also suffers. Experts estimate the damage (done) at more than $46 billion, and Europe will be experiencing the consequences for decades.”
Ukraine’s Accounting Chamber, citing data from the Operational Headquarters for recording the Russian environmental crimes, previously reported that Russian troops had caused damage to the environment to the tune of UAH 1.35 trillion ($35 billion).
