The decline in farm output accelerated in September: through August the drop had been 8.4%.
Livestock production has fallen 4.4% so far in 2025, while crop production is down 16.4% year-on-year.
Within crop production the drop hit commercial enterprises hardest (-20.9%), while household plots saw a smaller decline (-6.1%).
In livestock the pattern is reversed: enterprises reduced output by only 1.4%, whereas household farms cut production by 8.9%.
Sharp declines were recorded in Donetsk, Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts, where output fell 43.9%, 33.1% and 24.4% respectively. In Donetsk Oblast enterprise livestock production fell by a factor of 18.5.
Agricultural output also fell by more than 20% in Sumy and Chernihiv oblasts, which are suffering from sustained shelling, and in Khmelnytskyi Oblast.
Growth in agricultural production was recorded in only one oblast — Zakarpattya — where it rose 2.7%.
