Pentagon confirms continuing talks with Ukraine on military requirements

"I don't have any specifics to provide right now in terms of timing, other than to say, again, we recognize Ukraine has urgent needs," Ryder said, addressing inquiries about the potential arrival of American military assistance under a new package this week.

"We've been in constant contact throughout with Ukraine, our allies and partners on what those needs are, and so we'll certainly keep you updated."

Ryder underscored the necessity for the bill, initially approved by the House of Representatives, to pass through the U.S. Senate and obtain President Joe Biden's signature.

Another Ramstein-format meeting is slated for April 26, chaired by U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, and will be conducted online, Ryder said.

The House of Representatives passed a bill on April 20, after six months of delay, that includes over $60 billion in military aid for Ukraine. The final bill mandates the transfer of ATACMS ballistic missiles to Kyiv.

The U.S. Senate is expected to consider the bill on April 23, after which it would require President Joe Biden's signature. Strong bipartisan support for the measure means that it’s likely to pass without a hitch.

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Mark Warner said on April 21 that the United States could send a new aid package to Ukraine by the end of the week.
