Amphibious plane crashes in Moscow Oblast, crew killed

An amphibious plane, the Alex-251, crashed during a test flight in Moscow Oblast, Russia, on Sept. 9, Russian Telegram channel 112 reported.

The plane went down near an airfield close to the village of Vatuline in the Ruzsky urban district.

According to preliminary information, the two-person crew was killed. Emergency services are currently at the crash site.

Russia’s state-run TASS agency claimed there was no fire following the crash, and no casualties or damage occurred on the ground.

Earlier, Russian media reported that an An-2 plane had crashed.

An amphibious plane is a type of seaplane capable of taking off and landing on both solid ground and water.
