Another German IRIS-T anti-air system to arrive in Ukraine before 2025

In a phone call with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz confirmed that the sixth planned IRIS-T air defense system will be delivered to Ukraine by the end of the year, Zelenskyy’s office announced on Nov. 13.

During the call, the Ukrainian president focused on Kyiv’s air defense needs.

The leaders also discussed potential German military aid in 2025.

The press service noted that Zelenskyy and Scholz agreed to maintain Ukraine Defense Contact Group (Ramstein format) meetings.

Zelenskyy stressed the importance of presenting the Ukrainian concept of fair and lasting peace at the upcoming G20 summit in Brazil. He also expressed gratitude for Berlin’s support on this issue.

On Aug. 29, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock announced that Germany, along with its partners, will provide Ukraine with four additional IRIS-T systems by the end of 2024.

On Sept. 4, Scholz confirmed that Germany ordered an additional 17 IRIS-T air defense systems for Ukraine.
