The report claims that a KN-23 missile fell in a forest near Brovary, just outside Kyiv, shortly after 11 p.m. on Aug. 5.
“From the crash site to the center of Kyiv is about 20 kilometers, and it is unlikely that Brovary was the target,” the article says.
“The fact that it was a KN-23 is confirmed by the remnants found [at the crash site].”
Included photos of the debris found near Brovary reportedly indicate the fragments bear the markings of North Korean missiles.
During the attack itself, eyewitnesses recorded video footage of the burning missile falling to the ground.
“In the video, the KN-23 can be seen falling uncontrollably,” the report reads.
“Such occurrences are common for North Korean missiles, with approximately half breaking up in the air and those that reach their targets having significant deviations.”
Late at night on Aug. 5, Russia attacked Kyiv with four ground-launched ballistic missiles. Through malfunction and the work of Ukrainian air defenses, none of them reached their intended targets. No significant damage or casualties were reported in the capital.
