Lukoil’s press service made the announcement on March 13.
According to the statement, Robertus was 53 years old when he died "suddenly." The press service of the Russian company added that his professional activity was solely associated with Lukoil, where he had worked for 30 years.
On Oct. 24, 2023, the chairman of Lukoil's board of directors, Vladimir Nekrasov, had died, supposedly of acute heart failure.
On Aug. 1, 2022, Ravil Maganov—Lukoil VP and former chairman—fell out of a window in Moscow. Nekrasov was appointed to replace Maganov on Sept. 1, 2022.
In May 2022, Lukoil’s sales director Alexander Subotin died. According to Russian media, his death occurred during an unsuccessful session with shamans where Subotin sought treatment for alcohol problems through the use of frog poison.
On March 12, Ukrainian UAVs attacked a Lukoil oil refinery near Nizhny Novgorod. The company reported that the plant's operations had been suspended due to the "incident."
