The operation, named Clean City, aims to uncover a criminal organization linked to land corruption within the city government, according to the NABU.
Priority investigative actions are currently underway.
Economic Pravda, citing sources, reports that searches are being conducted at the home of businessman Denys Komarnytsky, described as the “supervisor” of the construction and municipal services sectors in Kyiv. His companies have regularly received major construction contracts from the city government.
On Jan. 29, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko posted a video message to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, accusing the new head of the Kyiv City State Administration Service, Tymur Tkachenko, of attempting to “usurp power” in the city. Klitschko claimed Tkachenko is blocking critical issues and trying to take over the mayor’s role and city administration functions.
Tkachenko, appointed by Zelenskyy on Dec. 31, 2024, called Klitschko’s statement “very strange” and dismissed the accusations as “empty.”
On Jan. 30, Klitschko told a Kyiv City Council meeting that the capital is facing “a crazy wave of pressure” from law enforcement aimed at discrediting city authorities and “paralyzing the city’s life support.”
He did not provide additional details but noted that hundreds of searches, investigations, and interrogations had taken place in 2024.
