The Anti-Corruption Action Center (AntAC) reported the ruling on Sept. 2.
The report said one of the three presiding judges issued a separate opinion, arguing that Mudra’s bail should have been increased.
Mudra’s lawyers asked the court to reduce the bail to UAH5 million ($122,000), saying that amount reflected her liquid assets. They later asked the court to impose personal recognizance with certain obligations instead of detention.
The prosecution, meanwhile, argued that the bail should be increased to UAH150 million ($3.66 million), saying that UAH20 million ($488,000) was insufficient to mitigate the risks.
On Aug. 25, the High Anti-Corruption Court ordered Mudra detained for 60 days, with the option of posting UAH20 million in bail. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has charged Mudra with money laundering, in the case known as Operation Forrest Gump.
As of Sept. 1, only UAH666 ($16) had been posted in
bail for Mudra. Her lawyer said the money was transferred by an unidentified
person. The lawyer also said Mudra had UAH5 million ($122,000) available to
post as bail.
