Serbia has secured its gas supplies from Russia's Gazprom for another three months until the end of September, Reuters reported on June 5.

"This is important for our country, for our citizens, for our economy, because these are stable supplies, extremely affordable in price, and also due to flexibility and volumes," Serbian Energy Minister Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic stated.

In March 2026, Serbia secured a three-month extension of its gas contract with Russia.

Imports of Russian gas cover up to 90% of Serbia's needs, although Belgrade aims to diversify these supplies with gas from Azerbaijan and liquefied natural gas (LNG) from terminals in Greece, Reuters noted.

Gas supplies to Europe by the Russian gas monopolist Gazprom via the TurkStream pipeline in May increased by 3% compared to May 2025, reaching 47.4 million cubic meters per day, and by 15.6% compared to April 2026.

Between January and May 2026, Russian gas exports to Europe rose by 6.4% to 7.66 billion cubic meters compared to the same period in 2025.

The TurkStream pipeline is designed to supply Gazprom's gas to Turkiye and European countries via transit through Turkish territory. The pipeline consists of two strings, each with a design capacity to pump up to 15.75 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

In addition to Turkiye, the countries receiving gas through the TurkStream include Serbia, Hungary, and Slovakia.
