No Taurus announcement expected during Zelenskyy’s visit to Berlin — report

The report noted that on May 26 and 27, certain remarks by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz may have hinted at a potential delivery of the missiles. Earlier, Clash Report wrote that Ukraine “is very likely” to receive between 100 and 150 Taurus missiles from Germany.

On May 26, Merz said that Germany, the UK, France, and the United States no longer impose any range restrictions on weapons supplied to Ukraine. 

“There are no longer any limitations on long-range strikes with the weaponry delivered to Ukraine — neither from Britain, nor from France, nor from us; there are also none from America,” the chancellor said on German public television.

“This means Ukraine can defend itself by, for example, attacking military positions in Russia.”

On May 9, Tagesspiegel reported that Germany’s new government had decided to keep details of future arms supplies to Ukraine confidential.

On April 14, Deutsche Welle reported that Merz had expressed readiness to support the transfer of German-made Taurus missiles to Ukraine—provided that the decision is coordinated with Germany’s European partners.
