U.S. President Joe Biden will focus on Western support for Ukraine during his upcoming visit to Germany, ABC News reported on Oct. 17, citing a senior White House source. The president will arrive in Berlin on Oct. 18.

“It [Germany] has been the second largest provider of military aid to Ukraine after the United States, and has provided a number of high-end capabilities, including tanks and other artillery systems,” the source told reporters.

The unnamed official noted the urgency of Biden's trip, as he wants to ensure Ukraine has everything required for self-defense.

“So absolutely, there is a sense of urgency in the White House and coming from President Biden's direction at the very top, to do everything that we can to put Ukraine in a position of strength and then ultimately to prevail in this conflict,” they said.

On Oct. 18, Biden will make a brief visit to Berlin, where he plans to meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and UK PM Keir Starmer.
