After meeting U.S. troops from the 82nd Airborne Division deployed to Poland as part of the plan to bolster NATO’s Eastern reaches, Biden is expected to be briefed on Polish efforts to accommodate Ukrainian refugees, pouring into the country in their flight from the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Earlier today, a technical issue forced Polish President Andrzej Duda to land in Warsaw. Duda has since safely arrived at Rzeszow, where he will greet the Biden. The two leaders are expected to hold a formal meeting in Warsaw on March 26.
During his first visit to Poland as U.S. president, Biden could reportedly meet Ukrainian refugees in the country.
On March 22, the UN said that 2 million Ukrainians have fled to Poland since the Russian invasion, out of 3.5 total Ukrainian refugees.
