The United States will not seek to normalize diplomatic relations
with the current Russian regime, U.S. Secretary of State Antony
Blinken said while delivering a commencement address at the
University of Georgetown on May 21.

“My staff did not let me bring my guitar up here to dedicate a performance of ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,’ to (Russian) President Putin,” the secretary said, jokingly. “They said it would be ‘undiplomatic.’”

During an earlier appearance on a late-night TV talk show, Blinken said that a sovereign and independent Ukraine “will be around a lot longer” than Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
The United States is also exploring the possibility of designating Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism.
