The proposal was filed by lawmaker Petar Petrov, who said the bilateral agreement was concluded without approval from Bulgaria’s parliament, raising concerns about its legitimacy and long-term consequences. Petrov said the pact could pose risks to Bulgaria’s national security and that its duration is a primary concern.
Revival also registered a draft resolution calling for withdrawal of Bulgaria’s consent to provide state guarantees totaling EUR1.2 billion tied to an EU-level lending mechanism intended to support Ukraine. The party argued that the loan repayment structure is conditional and unclear, creating financial risks for Bulgaria because there are no firm guarantees for reimbursement.
Petrov said Bulgaria is currently under significant economic
strain and should reassess its international financial obligations. The
proposed resolutions must still go through parliamentary procedure and will be
debated as part of the legislative process, Novinite reported.
