The Ukrainian government has made steps to strengthen the
enforcement of mandatory military registration for draft-eligible citizens, Defense
Minister Rustem Umerov announced on Oct. 28.
The changes involve data exchange through an electronic system between military recruitment centers, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), intelligence agencies, and the national police, according to the minister.
Umerov explained that this will enable law enforcement to quickly and effectively obtain information about draft dodgers and deliver them to recruitment centers or the appropriate authorities.
The minister said that digitalization increases transparency and generally improves the mobilization process.
“This decision restores justice for those who diligently fulfill their duty to the homeland,” Umerov added.
