Ukrainian footballer tests positive for doping and risks lengthy suspension

Ukrainian midfielder Mykhailo Mudryk, who joined Chelsea in January 2023, has tested positive for doping, Tribuna.com reports on Dec. 17.

Ukrainian midfielder Mykhailo Mudryk tested positive for a banned substance in an A sample taken in late October, according to reports.

The B sample is expected to be analyzed in the coming days. If confirmed, the 23-year-old could face a lengthy suspension.

Mudryk last played on Nov. 28 in a Conference League match against Heidenheim, where he scored a goal. He was also included in Chelsea’s squad for a Premier League match against Aston Villa on Dec. 1.

Mudryk joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 for €100 million, including bonuses, and signed a deal through 2031.
