After meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Chinese President Xi Jinping said it was necessary to “strengthen mutual support in multilateral forums.”
China said trust between Beijing and Moscow has “deepened” and that the two countries are “creating a model for a new type of international relations.”
On July 4, the South China Morning Post, citing sources, reported that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told the European Union’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, that Beijing “does not want to see Russia lose the war against Ukraine.”
On July 14, Donald Trump announced that the United States and NATO had signed an agreement to supply weapons to Ukraine. According to him, the United States would produce “the best in the world” weapons and sell them to NATO, while the alliance would coordinate supplies to Ukraine.
Trump also said that thanks to the agreement, Ukraine would receive billions of dollars in weapons. He added that he was “very dissatisfied” with Russia and threatened to impose 100% tariffs if a peace agreement with Ukraine was not reached within 50 days.
