Russia is launching jet drones in small, continuous waves to paralyze Kyiv and exhaust its air defenses, though Moscow currently lacks the resources for a massive aerial deployment, Ukraine's chief disinformation watchdog Andriy Kovalenko said on August 28.
“The enemy is launching a small number of UAVs in waves to paralyze Kyiv, exhausting air defenses and the population because they currently lack the resources to deploy a massive number of drones,” Kovalenko wrote.
The official assured that decisions will be made to counter this specific Russian tactic.
Russian forces continued a sustained barrage across Ukraine overnight into August 28, launching attack drones and aerial bombs at Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and Odesa Oblasts. In the capital, air raid sirens sounded for the sixth time close to midnight as explosions echoed throughout the city.
Monitoring channels report that launches of new jet-powered UAVs from Russia's Orel region continue.
