Rescue operations have been concluded in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district after the Aug. 28 devastating Russian missile strike on a five-story apartment building, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on Telegram the following day.

Twenty-two people, including four children, were killed when a section of the building collapsed in the direct hit. The youngest victim was less than three years old.

Debris is being cleared.

The enemy’s massive drone and missile attack on the densely populated neighborhoods of the Ukrainian capital on Aug. 28 killed 23 people. Fifty-three others were injured. Eight people are still missing.

Zelenskyy urged the international community to sanction and pressure Russia for its actions, emphasizing the need to hold Moscow accountable for choosing military action and cooperation with entities like North Korea over diplomacy.

“When Russia chooses ballistics instead of diplomacy, continues to modernize its killing machines, and develops cooperation with entities such as North Korea, it means that the world must respond accordingly,” the president said.
