Russia pounds Kryvyi Rih for nearly 24 hours

The Russian drone and missile barrage on the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih lasted nearly 24 hours, causing extensive infrastructure damage, triggering fires, and leaving thousands of residents without electricity, reported Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the city’s Defense Council, on Telegram on on Jan. 23.

The air assault began on Jan. 22 and continued until the morning of Jan. 23, with Russian forces launching more than 70 drones and an Iskander-M ballistic missile at the city.

Seven people, including three children, were hospitalized.

Approximately 3,100 households and businesses remain without electricity. Water and heating systems continue to operate.

More than 90 miners were trapped in mines overnight. They were all rescued by morning in an operation that lasted more than 10 hours.

Efforts to mitigate the consequences of the devastating attack are ongoing.
