Russia’s main goal with daytime mass attacks is to increase the number of civilian casualties, the head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council said on April 3.

He noted that this is why combined attacks occur on working days using large numbers of drones and missiles. Kovalenko urged Ukrainians to take air raid alerts seriously and stay in safe locations.

Early on April 3, air raid alerts were declared in several regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv Oblast, due to the threat of Russian attack drones and cruise missiles.

According to Air Force Command communications chief Col. Yurii Ihnat, Russia has launched more than 400 drones across Ukraine since the beginning of the day, with new launches reported from various directions.

Ihnat said Russian forces are repeating the pattern of massive attacks seen on March 23–24 and March 31–April 1, when drones struck throughout the entire day.

On April 2, the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War reported that Russia is employing a new tactic of mass attacks that combines a large nighttime strike with an equally heavy daytime assault.
