Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi commented on the signing of Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk by the London club.

The Italian coach said he knows the Ukrainian's abilities well, having previously worked with him at Shakhtar Donetsk.

"I worked with Misha before, at the beginning of his career, so I know very well what he can bring to our team.

"I will demand a lot from Misha, and our job is to help him become the best version of himself. If we can do that, he can become a very important player for us. I am very happy that he chose our club, and I can't wait to work with him again," Tottenham's press service quoted De Zerbi as saying.

Tottenham announced the loan signing of the 25-year-old Ukrainian from Chelsea. The deal includes an option to buy the player for 75 million pounds ($87.5 million).

De Zerbi coached Mudryk at Shakhtar during the 2021-22 season. Under him, the Ukrainian made 19 appearances, scoring two goals and providing six assists.

In August, after Mudryk's suspension for violating anti-doping rules was lifted, De Zerbi said the Ukrainian was "like a son" to him.

After his suspension was lifted, Mudryk joined Chelsea in Hong Kong for the club's preseason training camp and played in a friendly against Juventus, coming on as a substitute in the second half. It was Mudryk's first match since November 2024.

Earlier, Mykhailo Mudryk spoke about his emotions after reuniting with head coach Roberto De Zerbi.
