Reports of Russian troops infiltrating the town of Huliaypole in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhya Oblast on Nov. 28 do not align with the facts, the National Security and Defense Council’s Center for Countering Disinformation said on Telegram, adding that Ukrainian defenses destroyed the advancing Russian invasion forces and restored stability.

The center's head, Andriy Kovalenko, said that "intense fighting continues, but the situation is now stabilized.

Southern Defense Forces spokesman Vladyslav Voloshyn added that command took timely measures to improve the defensive position on the Huliaypole front, rushing in reserves.

"Despite everything, Ukraine's Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy and do everything to live up to our fallen brothers and our own dignity," he said.

Moscow spreads such disinformation to sow fear among Ukrainians, the message reads.

"These fakes aim to create emotional pressure, undermine trust in the Ukrainian Armed Forces and shake the internal resilience of Ukrainian society," the statement said.

Southern Defense Forces earlier said Ukrainian troops repelled a Russian offensive near Huliaipole in Zaporizhzhia.

The monitoring project DeepState reported on Nov. 27 that Russian forces occupied Zelenyi Hai in Zaporizhzhya Oblast.

DeepState later said timely command decisions prevented the loss of Huliaypole and slowed the Russian advance.

News outlet hromadske, citing three military sources on the Zaporizhzhya front, reported Ukrainian troops spotted Russians on the town’s outskirts.

Southern Defense Forces spokesman Voloshyn told hromadske he was unaware of such reports.
