His statement came amid Ukraine facing shortage of military personnel, therefore, it is impossible to make any decisions about demobilization.

"People shouldn't be deceived, and soldiers and their families shouldn't be given false hopes,” he wrote.

“It's better to speak the truth — under any recruitment statistics, demobilization is now impossible."

“The need to first address the shortage of personnel and then focus on rotation and rest for brigades in the most active areas of the front,” he added.

“Now 'rest' for these soldiers means being transferred to quieter frontline sectors”.

Military demobilization

Lawmakers will start discussing a demobilization law in about two to three months, head of the parliamentary committee on national security Oleksandr Zavitnevych said on June 12.

A demobilization bill could be introduced to parliament in October if the current mobilization rates remain high until the end of the summer, Verkhovna Rada committee on national security, defense, and intelligence secretary, Roman Kostenko, told Ukrainska Pravda on June 19.

The Verkhovna Rada removed the demobilization provision from the mobilization bill on April 11, which came into effect on May 18. Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi initiated the decision the day before.
