Umerov and his Danish counterpart, Troels Lund Poulsen, signed the corresponding letter of intent in The Hague, ahead of the NATO summit held there.
Umerov said the agreement “opens the door to joint production of Ukrainian arms on Danish territory.” He described the move as the first step in implementing the Build with Ukraine initiative, which was first outlined at various meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.
“Denmark has already allocated DKK500 million [$78 million] to launch Ukrainian defense production on its territory,” the Ukrainian minister said.
“All capacities established under the project will work to strengthen Ukraine’s defense forces.”
He added that the program “will enhance the joint defense capability of the two countries, strengthen supply chains, and create new opportunities for bilateral defense industry integration.”
