A Ukrainian defeat would allow Russia to advance into other parts of Europe, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said on Oct. 15.

She reiterated that Ukraine remains an important line of defense for Europe and that European countries must continue rearming because Moscow is not seeking peace.

“If we allow Ukraine to fall, I believe it will open the way for the Russians to advance into other parts of Europe,” Frederiksen said.

“That is why we must continue to view Ukraine as our line of defense in Europe. If this domino falls, it will, in my view, open the way for further attacks.”

She also warned that, “unfortunately, Russia does not want peace with us,” and called on European countries to continue rearming and supporting Ukraine.

On Sept. 24, Denmark’s Defense Intelligence Service warned that there was a “small but growing risk” that Russia could launch a limited military offensive against one or more neighboring NATO countries in the coming months.

On Oct. 7, Danish officials said Russia had expanded sabotage operations against Danish companies that supply goods to Ukraine. The shift indicates a significant escalation in Moscow’s hybrid warfare campaign.
