Ukrainians’ views on lowering the conscription age during the ongoing war and the actions of military commissariats were presented in a Socis survey from Feb. 3-9 2025, obtained by NV.

When asked about reducing the draft age from 25 to 18 or 20 if the front line worsens sharply, 86.5% said the age shouldn’t be lowered under any circumstances. Meanwhile, 8.6% supported dropping it to 20, and 1.4% to 18.

Separately, 79.9% of respondents said the current form of conscription is unacceptable. Another 16.2% said conscription is necessary to defeat Russia, and isolated military commissariat mistakes don’t change their stance.

The Socis survey was conducted from Feb. 3-9, 2025, through face-to-face interviews using tablets (CAPI). It polled 2,000 adults over 18 in government-controlled Ukrainian territories.
