Ukrainian students, parents of multiple children, and individuals with disabilities will be able to apply for a deferment from military service via the Reserve+ app, Deputy Defense Minister Kateryna Chornohorenko announced on Sept. 27.

“Currently, to receive a deferment from conscription, a person must go to a Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC),” Interfax-Ukraine news agency quoted Chornohorenko.

“Their application is reviewed, and only then is a decision made on whether to approve it. We want to change this. At the beginning of November, we plan to implement three types of deferments.”

She also added that Reserve+ will automatically receive data from other state services. For example, to issue a deferment for students in full-time education, a corresponding request will be made to the Registry of the Education Ministry.

However, the data synchronization process may take some time, Chornohorenko noted.

The ministry previously announced that the Reserve+ app would launch an online recruitment service in October, displaying current vacancies in the Defense Forces.
