This air base is actively used for basing frontline bombers, attack aircraft, attack helicopters, and other aircraft.
Rostov Oblast Governor Vasily Golubev claimed that the air defense system allegedly shot down all 26 drones overnight, but Defense Express notes that NASA's satellite fire monitoring service recorded a large-scale fire at Millerovo airfield.
The outlet also writes that locals filmed the fire at the airfield in the immediate vicinity of the airbase, providing video evidence of what exactly is burning.
The first shots reportedly show a fire in the area where fuel for aircraft is stored. Then the camera moves and captures the area of the maintenance and operation unit where aircraft are serviced and repaired, and a fire is also visible there.
"That is, we are talking about two 100% damaged and disabled facilities, on the functioning of which the work of the entire Millerovo air base depends," the article reads.
Defense Express analysts also believe that, judging by the data from the fire monitoring service, Ukrainian drones also hit airplanes and helicopters that were in open areas.
The Crimean Wind Telegram channel earlier reported that drones had hit the Russian airfield of Millerovo. There were reportedly more than 16 explosions near the airfield — near the village of Dolotinka, as well as near the oil depot. The channel also reported fires in the area of the runway and airplane parking lots.
