The plant produces batteries and accumulators for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), aviation, the navy, radio equipment, as well as lithium-ion and mercury-zinc cells for use in communication, control, electronic warfare (EW) systems and simulators for tanks and missile systems.
Energia also produces electrochemical capacitors for the Russian Defense Ministry and light-optical power plants that provide an autonomous power supply. It is also a major supplier to Roscosmos, the Internal Ministry, the Federal Security Service (FSB), the Emergency Situations Ministry, and Gazprom.
“The plant's products are used in communication, control, and electronic warfare, as well as in the production of Iskander and Kinzhal missiles," said Kovalenko.
Energia is under sanctions from the European Union, the United States, Japan, and others.
Earlier in the day, the Supernova+ Telegram channel posted a video of the attack on the plant and the subsequent fire. Residents heard at least a dozen explosions overnight.
