Russia’s Saratov oil refinery has paused crude intake on Aug. 11, one day after a Ukrainian drone attack on the facility, Bloomberg reported, citing a source familiar with the situation.

Owned by state-controlled Rosneft, the plant can process about 140,000 barrels of oil a day. A prolonged shutdown could strain gasoline supplies in Russia’s domestic market, where fuel demand is rising, the report noted.

Earlier, Ukraine’s General Staff said that on the night of Aug. 10, Ukrainian drones attacked the refinery, triggering explosions and a fire on site. According to the General Staff, the Saratov refinery is a key part of Russia’s fuel‐supply military infrastructure. Its annual processing capacity is up to 7 million tons of crude.
