He linked this delay to the mobilization gap, experienced in 2023, and the necessary training, that new soldiers must receive before going to the frontlines.

"I am pleased with the positive results of the mobilization in June and especially in July," he said.

"If the pace of mobilization was at the same level as last year, the situation at the front would be different, we would be talking about completely different things. But since last year was completely different, there is still a gap to fill. It's just that the pace is picking up now. The frontline hasn't felt it yet, because those who are being recruited now won't go to the front right away, and that's right."

People now undergo two months of training before being sent to the battlefield.

"Although mobilization efforts are gradually shifting in the rear, the front does not feel it yet. The same tired, exhausted units are holding the line there that have been holding this defense for the entire 10 months that this Russian offensive has been going on.

"You can imagine the level of fatigue and exhaustion. It is really beyond bearable," Dykyi said.

4,690,496 draft-eligible Ukrainian citizens updated their military registration since the new mobilization bill had come into force on May 18.
