Ukraine's First Lady Olena Zelenska has initiated the preparation and implementation of a gender audit as part of national efforts to create a barrier-free favorable working environment for both men and women, the Ministry of Education and Science announced on August 6.

With more than 300 employees of different genders, the ministry sees this as "an opportunity to support each employee to achieve the best results and to boost the gender equality policy in education, to identify best practices in the work organization, to identify and overcome obstacles to the employees' potential realization, and to formulate a personalized approach to management."

The audit will include surveys, individual interviews, workshops, and an analysis of documents, websites, and internal and external physical spaces within the Ministry. The entire process will be confidential.

The project is supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the NGO EdCamp Ukraine.
