Ukraine’s Education Ministry has finished preparing a curriculum for a 140-lesson-long Crimean Tatar language and literature course, designed for 5th- and 6th-grade school students, the ministry announced on Aug. 8.

The educational materials were developed with consideration for the traditions, customs, and history of the Crimean Tatar people, according to the ministry.

“This course is an opportunity to preserve and develop the unique language and culture of the Crimean Tatars, ensuring access to quality education regardless of where students live,” the message said.

“Each lesson is a journey through the traditions, history, and nature of Crimea.”

Each lesson in the course includes three components: a video in Crimean Tatar with subtitles, test assignments, and a summary.

Leading experts and native speakers of the language worked on the development of the curriculum.
