Emergency power outages introduced in Kyiv and three Ukrainian oblasts — DTEK

DTEK noted that the order came from Ukrenergo due to the challenging situation in the energy system. As a result, the planned power outage schedules in these regions are currently not in effect.

On Aug. 27, Ukrenergo announced that scheduled power outages would be implemented in all regions of Ukraine. The plan was to cut off two groups of consumers throughout the day.

Prior to this, Ukrenergo reported that on Aug. 26, Russian forces carried out the largest missile and drone attack on Ukraine’s energy system since the start of the war. Russia launched 127 missiles and 109 attack drones, with Ukraine’s Air Force shooting down 102 missiles and 99 drones.

The occupiers attempted to attack the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant. According to Ruslan Kravchenko, head of Kyiv Oblast Military Administration, the plant did not sustain significant damage, and the road across the dam was reopened on Aug. 26.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that 15 oblasts were affected by the attack. Ukraine’s Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko reported that the situation in the energy sector is challenging.
