Tens of thousands households and businesses were left without power following an overnight Russian air assault on an energy facility in the southern Odesa Oblast, Ukraine’s largest private utility provider DTEK reported on Telegram on April 6.
Electricity has been restored to critical infrastructure and nearly 3,000 households. However, approximately 16,700 families in parts of the city’s Prymorskyi, Khadzhibeyskyi, and Kyivskyi districts remain without power.
The damage is extensive and restoration work will take time.
The strike on energy infrastructure came amid a wider overnight drone attack on Odesa that killed three people, including a child, and injured ten others. Two of the wounded are in critical condition.
