Ukraine's electricity imports from the EU have reached a technical limit of 2,100 MW, Frank Reyer, vice-chair of the System Operations Committee at the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E), told NV Business.

"The 2,100 MW from the EU to Ukraine is very close to the technical limit. This figure should be lower in summer," Reyer said during the annual DiXi Group Ukrainian Energy Security Dialogue 2024 conference on Dec. 4.

This is the current import capacity to Ukraine from the EU's energy systems starting Dec. 1, the European operator representative said, adding that the high-voltage 400 kV line between Ukraine and Slovakia is currently being restored.

Long-term synchronization projects between Ukraine and European countries under ENTSO-E have been ongoing since 2017. The first such synchronization occurred seamlessly on the first day of the full-scale invasion and took only three weeks, said Reyer.
