Kallas made the remark at a news conference after a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg, Ukrainska Pravda reported.
“After the election in Hungary there was a new impulse, and I expect a positive decision on the EUR90 billion loan within the next 24 hours,” she said.
She added that EU foreign ministers “also urged moving quickly on the 20th [Russia] sanctions package.”
“We must continue giving Ukraine what it needs to defend itself until [Russian dictator Vladimir] Putin understands that this war leads nowhere,” Kallas said.
Kallas said the EU must revisit long-blocked decisions, including opening substantive accession negotiations with Ukraine and steps related to European rearmament.
“We also need to review sanctions that were on the table but
not agreed before; and we also must move forward with a new package of
sanctions,” she said.
