The sanctions also target Russian MPs that voted on recent “treaties” Moscow has made with its puppet statelets in Ukraine’s Donbas, as well as the military commanders of the Belarusian border guards.
Earlier, EU’s foreign policy chief Josep Borrell confirmed that the Russian president and his top diplomat are included in the most recent set of European sanctions.
“The only world leaders to have EU sanctions levied against them are Syria’s (Bashar al-) Assad, (Alexander) Lukashenka of Belarus, and now – Putin of Russia,” said Borrell.
Canadian PM Justin Trudeau said that Ottawa will join its Western allies and introduce personal sanctions against Putin and Lavrov, following Russia starting another war against Ukraine.
