Technogenic explosion in Kyiv claims at least three lives, rescue efforts continue

An explosion occurred at an auto transport facility in the Holosiyivskyi district of Kyiv on Sept. 8, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on Telegram.

The explosion was of "technogenic origin," according to the Kyiv City Military Administration. Three people have been confirmed dead.

However, according to the administration, there may still be people under the rubble. A canine unit has been deployed to assist in the rescue and search operation.

Mayor Klitschko earlier claimed that the cause of the explosion was initially unknown.

As a result of the explosion, a two-story building was partially destroyed. No fire broke out at the scene.

Emergency services continue working on the site.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported on Facebook that at 10:12 a.m., rescuers received a report about the explosion on Vasylkivska Street at an auto facility. There are 31 rescuers and eight units of equipment working at the scene.
