An explosion
rocked the Russian city of Vladivostok near a naval base on Aug. 9, and a
video showing a flying object hovering for an extended period in the area
has gone viral.
The corvette “Gromky” of the Pacific Fleet was involved in a training exercise to defend Vladivostok from a hypothetical aerial strike by an “adversary,” at the time, according to the press service of the Eastern Military District of the Russian Federation.
“The air defense systems of the corvette “Gromky” identified targets, prepared the air defense for deployment, and practiced the algorithm of actions during a simulated air attack.”
Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has prohibited witnesses from disclosing what occurred in Vladivostok, according to local lawyer and politician Maxim Chikhunov.
“In the morning, FSB workers arrived and questioned us. Our neighbor advised us not to talk about what happened to anyone,” he said.
