As Ukrainians nationwide headed down to their bomb shelters
due to an air raid alert, explosions rocked the cities of Poltava and
Kropyvnytskyi on Jan. 19, Ukraine’s public broadcaster Suspilne reported.
Explosion sounds were heard in the Kremenchuk district of Poltava region, residents told Suspilne.
The Ukrainian Air Forces had earlier issued alerts regarding the potential use of ballistic missiles from the east. The nationwide air raid alert was in response to the launch of a Russian MiG-31K fighter jet from the Savasleyka airbase located in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. This aircraft carries Russia’s advanced aeroballistic Kh-47 Kinzhal missile.
