The assault involved 68 missiles and 430 attack drones launched across Ukraine, of which air defenses neutralized 460 targets, according to official data. Despite the high interception rate, direct hits from ballistic missiles and falling debris caused widespread fires in residential areas and warehouses in Kyiv Oblast.
Four people were confirmed killed in Brovary and Novi Petrivtsi. 15 others were injured, three of them critically; surgeons are fighting to save the lives of two of the severely wounded.
Damage was recorded to about 30 sites, including apartment buildings, private houses, schools, warehouses and civilian businesses.
The hardest-hit districts were Brovary, Obukhiv, Vyshhorod and Bucha, with an apartment building facade in Brovary heavily damaged by the blast wave.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Ministry of Energy confirmed that the primary targets were the region's energy facilities.
Significant damage to sites in Kyiv and parts of the Bucha district forced emergency power outages.
Because other regions were also struck, hourly rolling blackouts for households and industry began in some regions of Ukraine at 8 a.m.
Emergency repair crews and energy workers have started restoration efforts wherever security conditions allow.
